Kisspeptin Dosage: What Studies Used
Kisspeptin dosage, honestly: no dose is established for any use. What the human studies actually gave, per kilogram, by route and population, why repeated dosing blunts the response, and why the charts circulating online are claims rather than studied doses.

Key takeaways
- No kisspeptin dosage is established for any use. Nothing has been approved, and FDA found no published trial of kisspeptin-10 given on a fixed schedule for longer than a single day.
- The doses that exist are research doses, quoted per kilogram of body weight and given in hospital research units: intravenous boluses and infusions of kisspeptin-10, and single injections or short infusions of kisspeptin-54.
- Dosing frequency matters more than amount. Twice-daily injections and continuous infusions lost most of their hormone effect within days; spacing doses out preserved more of it.
- The two forms are not interchangeable: kisspeptin-54 is far larger and longer-lasting, and it is the form used in the fertility and libido studies.
- The dosing charts circulating on seller and 'protocol' sites match no published study. They are claims about an unapproved drug, and we do not reproduce them or add a units chart.
The direct answer: there is no kisspeptin dose to give you. Nothing containing kisspeptin is approved anywhere, no dose has been established for any condition, and when FDA reviewed kisspeptin-10 in 2024 it found no published clinical trial that had given the peptide on a fixed schedule for more than one day (FDA briefing 2024). What the literature contains is a set of research doses, measured per kilogram of body weight, given intravenously or by pump in hospital research units with blood sampled every few minutes. Those are worth knowing, because they are the yardstick against which any chart you have been shown can be measured. The kisspeptin-10 profile covers the evidence and the legal status in full, and kisspeptin vs PT-141 compares it with the one libido peptide a clinician can actually prescribe.
What the studies gave
| Study | Form | Dose as published | Route | Population | Duration | Hormone outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| George 2011 | Kisspeptin-10 | 0.01 to 3.0 mcg/kg | Intravenous bolus | Healthy men | Single doses | LH rose dose-dependently, largest at 1 mcg/kg (4.1 to 12.4 IU/L at 30 minutes); 3 mcg/kg gave a smaller response |
| George 2011 | Kisspeptin-10 | 1.5 and 4 mcg/kg per hour | Intravenous infusion | Healthy men, 4 per arm | Up to 22.5 hours | LH rose from 5.2 to 14.1 IU/L at the lower rate with more frequent LH pulses; testosterone rose from 16.6 to 24.0 nmol/L at the higher rate |
| Jayasena 2011 | Kisspeptin-10 | 0.3 to 10 nmol/kg intravenously; up to 32 nmol/kg subcutaneously; infusion up to 720 pmol/kg per minute | Intravenous or subcutaneous | Healthy men and women, 4 to 5 per group | Single doses or infusion | Men responded from 0.3 nmol/kg; women in the follicular phase showed no change by any route or dose; women near ovulation responded |
| Yeung 2026 | Kisspeptin-10 | 1.25 to 10 nmol/kg per hour acutely; then 180 nmol per hour continuously; then 150 nmol per hour intermittently | Subcutaneous infusion by pump | 15 healthy men across three studies | 8 hours; 5 days continuous; 8 hours a day for 12 days | Dose-dependent acute rises in LH, FSH and testosterone; LH and FSH back to placebo levels after 5 continuous days; LH still raised on day 12 with the intermittent schedule |
| Jayasena 2009 | Kisspeptin-54 | 6.4 nmol/kg twice daily | Subcutaneous injection | 5 women with hypothalamic amenorrhea (5 on saline) | 2 weeks | LH rose 24.0 IU/L on day 1 and only 2.5 IU/L on day 14; FSH 9.1 then 0.5 IU/L; no change in LH pulses or ovarian ultrasound |
| Jayasena 2010 | Kisspeptin-54 | Twice weekly (dose not stated in the abstract) | Subcutaneous injection | Women with hypothalamic amenorrhea | 8 weeks | Reproductive hormones still significantly higher than on saline at 8 weeks; only partial desensitization, unlike twice-daily dosing |
| Abbara 2015 | Kisspeptin-54 | 3.2, 6.4, 9.6 or 12.8 nmol/kg, once | Subcutaneous injection, 36 hours before egg retrieval | 60 women in IVF at high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation | Single dose | Egg maturation in 95%; highest oocyte yield at 12.8 nmol/kg; no moderate, severe or critical hyperstimulation |
| Mills 2023 | Kisspeptin-54 | 1 nmol/kg per hour | Intravenous infusion | 32 men with hypoactive sexual desire disorder | 75 minutes, once | Chosen to hold steady kisspeptin levels during brain scanning; brain responses and tumescence changed, no adverse events |
| Mills 2025 | Kisspeptin-54 | 12.8 nmol/kg | Nasal spray | Healthy men, healthy women, women with hypothalamic amenorrhea | Single dose | LH rose 4.4 IU/L in men, 1.4 IU/L in women, 4.4 IU/L in amenorrhea, all above placebo; no side effects reported |
Two patterns run through the table. The clinical work, meaning the fertility trials and the libido trials, used kisspeptin-54, not kisspeptin-10. And the kisspeptin-10 work was almost entirely intravenous, because the peptide has a half-life of about four minutes in healthy men (FDA briefing 2024); the one study that injected it under the skin as a single bolus, in women in the follicular phase, measured no hormone response at all (Jayasena 2011).
Tachyphylaxis: the reason frequency matters more than amount
The reproductive axis is driven by pulses. Give it a constant signal and it stops listening, a phenomenon called tachyphylaxis, and kisspeptin demonstrates it clearly.
- Twice daily for two weeks. In women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, the LH rise after an injection fell from 24.0 IU/L on day 1 to 2.5 IU/L on day 14, and the FSH response was nearly abolished by day 2. The women still responded to GnRH itself, which places the desensitization upstream of the pituitary (Jayasena 2009).
- Twice weekly for eight weeks. The same group then compared schedules and found only partial desensitization with twice-weekly injections, with reproductive hormones still significantly raised at eight weeks (Jayasena 2010).
- Continuous for five days. In healthy men, a continuous subcutaneous infusion of kisspeptin-10 left LH and FSH no different from vehicle by the end, although testosterone remained raised; an intermittent schedule of 8 hours on and 16 hours off still produced a rise on day 12 (Yeung 2026).
- The extreme case. Takeda's long-acting kisspeptin analog, infused continuously for 14 days in healthy men, drove testosterone below baseline within 60 hours and into the castration range by day 8; it was being developed to suppress testosterone in prostate cancer, not to raise it (MacLean 2014).
The practical implication is uncomfortable for anyone selling a daily injection. With kisspeptin, taking more often is not a way to get more effect; it is the documented way to lose the effect, and in the analog's case to invert it.
Why a single laboratory dose is not a protocol
Even where a dose produced a clean result, it does not convert into something a person can do at home.
- The route carries the dose. An intravenous bolus delivers the whole amount into the bloodstream within seconds, which is how a peptide cleared in four minutes can produce a measurable LH pulse. An injection into fat tissue absorbs slowly and incompletely, and for kisspeptin-10 no study has shown what reaches the circulation.
- The measurement was the point. The infusion in the libido trials was designed to hold kisspeptin levels steady during a brain scan, before testosterone had time to move. The outcome was an fMRI signal measured during the infusion, not a next-day effect (Mills 2023).
- The timing was clinical. The IVF dose works because it is given 36 hours before egg retrieval, in a cycle already stimulated and controlled by a fertility team (Abbara 2015). Detached from that cycle, the same injection has no purpose.
- Weight-based doses are not fixed doses. Studies dose in nanomoles or micrograms per kilogram, so the same regimen means different amounts for different people, and the molecular weights of the two kisspeptin forms differ several-fold. Carrying a figure from one form, route or population to another is arithmetic without a basis.
- The groups were tiny. Four to five people per arm is normal for physiology studies, and adequate for detecting a hormone pulse. It says nothing about how often an effect or a harm would occur in thousands of people dosing for months.
Seller charts are claims, not doses
The charts that come up when people search for kisspeptin dosage share a format: a low, standard and split daily amount in micrograms, a cycle of a few weeks on and a few weeks off, a vial size and a conversion to syringe units. We are not reproducing them, for two reasons.
First, nothing in them traces back to a study. No published trial has injected kisspeptin-10 under the skin on a daily schedule, in cycles, at the amounts these charts specify, for any purpose. Several of the sites hosting them also carry affiliate links to the vendors selling the vials.
Second, there is no product for the chart to apply to. Kisspeptin-10 has been in FDA's Category 2 of the 503A compounding list since September 29, 2023, on grounds that include a possible immunogenicity risk by injected routes and poor characterization of the substance; FDA's advisory committee voted 0 to 11 against adding it to the permitted list on October 29, 2024 (FDA briefing 2024). No US pharmacy may legally compound it, so every vial on sale is an unapproved drug of unverified content, and FDA's own reviewers noted that impurities and aggregation in such preparations are part of the risk. The legal tracker keeps the current status, and our peptide dosage chart covers the compounds that do have labels and studied doses.
For the same reason this page has no reconstitution example and no units table. Those belong to products that a pharmacist prepared and labeled with a concentration and a beyond-use date. Kisspeptin has none.
Bottom line
Kisspeptin dosage is a question the science has not answered yet. The hormone work is good: single doses raise LH and testosterone in men, a single injection matures eggs in IVF, and researchers are now mapping which schedules avoid switching the axis off. But every one of those doses was weight-based, given by vein or by pump, and measured in a research unit over hours. The one thing the literature says clearly about frequent dosing is that it stops working, and the charts offering a daily microgram amount in cycles have no study behind them and no legal product to apply to.
Frequently asked questions
+What is the kisspeptin dosage for men?
There is no established dose. In published studies of healthy men, kisspeptin-10 was given as single intravenous boluses in the range of 0.01 to 3 micrograms per kilogram, with the largest LH rise at 1 microgram per kilogram, and as intravenous infusions lasting up to 22.5 hours. The only multi-day regimen was a subcutaneous infusion running 8 hours a day for 12 days, delivered by pump in a research unit. None of these was a daily injection, and none is a recommendation.
+What is the kisspeptin dosage for women?
It depends on the menstrual cycle and the form. Kisspeptin-10 did not change LH or FSH in women in the follicular phase at any dose or route tested, including subcutaneous doses many times larger than anything sold online, and worked only close to ovulation. The studies in women with clinical aims used kisspeptin-54 instead: one injection timed within an IVF cycle, or a single 75-minute intravenous infusion in the low-desire trial. None of them is a home regimen.
+Can kisspeptin be taken daily?
Frequent or continuous dosing is what blunts kisspeptin. Twice-daily kisspeptin-54 injections in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea lost almost all of their LH effect by day 14, and the FSH response was nearly gone by day 2. A continuous five-day kisspeptin-10 infusion in healthy men let LH and FSH fall back to placebo levels. Spacing doses out, twice weekly in one study, or 8 hours on and 16 hours off in another, preserved more of the response. No study has tested a daily self-injection.
+How fast does kisspeptin work, and how long does it last?
In laboratory studies, LH begins rising within minutes of an intravenous dose and peaks at around 30 minutes for kisspeptin-10. Kisspeptin-10 clears from the blood with a half-life of about 4 minutes, so researchers either infuse it continuously or sample blood every 10 to 15 minutes. Hormone effects are measured in hours, not days, and the effects on brain responses in the libido trials were measured during the infusion itself.
+Can kisspeptin be given nasally?
It has been tested once. In a 2025 crossover study, a single nasal spray of kisspeptin-54 raised LH modestly in healthy men, healthy women and women with hypothalamic amenorrhea, with no side effects reported. That was a research formulation of kisspeptin-54, given once, in a clinic, as the first test of whether the nasal route works at all. No study has tested nasal kisspeptin-10, and no nasal kisspeptin product exists.
+How do you reconstitute a 10 mg kisspeptin vial?
We do not publish reconstitution or units charts for kisspeptin. There is no legal prescription product to prepare: kisspeptin-10 has been in FDA's Category 2 since September 2023, FDA's advisory committee voted against allowing pharmacies to use it in October 2024, and the vials sold online are unapproved drugs with no verified content. A units chart would amount to a protocol for a dose no study has tested.
+Are kisspeptin-10 and kisspeptin-54 doses interchangeable?
No. Kisspeptin-54 is a much larger molecule and lasts several times longer in the blood, which is why it was the form chosen for single injections under the skin in the IVF and amenorrhea studies. Studies dose both in nanomoles per kilogram, so a weight-based figure for one cannot be carried across to the other, and a subcutaneous dose that worked for kisspeptin-54 says nothing about kisspeptin-10.
+Is there a kisspeptin dose that raises testosterone long term?
None has been shown. Testosterone rose during infusions lasting hours to days in small groups of men, and stayed up through 12 days of intermittent subcutaneous infusion in seven men. In the other direction, a long-acting kisspeptin analog infused continuously for 14 days drove testosterone into the castration range, and a five-day continuous infusion of kisspeptin-10 lost its effect on LH and FSH. Frequency, not amount, is the unsolved problem.
